Informed…is when a delegate to the International Education Forum and Annual Meeting or to a Division Annual Meeting is free to make their own decision on how to vote for officers, on bylaws amendments or other motions that may arise.
Most Chapters and Division will send their delegate "informed, but uninstructed." That means that they have let their delegate know their opinion about an issue or candidate (informed), but the delegate is still free to listen to discussion that may change the way he/she may vote (uninstructed). The delegate will vote in the best interest of those he/she is representing because they have been "informed" of the group’s decision, but will be able to make a more informed decision if allowed to consider any additional information.
For example - an amendment is proposed that will raise dues $25 for every type of membership. The chapter decides they do not want the dues raised that much so the delegate is "instructed" to vote no on the amendment. The proposed amendment is amended at EFAM and the increase will now only be $5. Even though the Chapter members would be ok with a $5 increase, the delegate was "instructed" to vote no, so that is how he/she will have to vote - even though it was amended to the lower amount.
If the delegate was "informed" that they did not want the dues raised $25 but would be ok with $10 or less, then the delegate would be sent "uninstructed" and could vote yes on the $5 change.

Re-certified…From the CEUs (see CEU definition) one can become re-certified which lasts for five years. Then the individual repeats educational effort to sustain another five years. Re-certifying means you keep your ratings alive from your IAAP-approved continuing education. The ratings are CPS, CAP or any other IAAP-accepted rating.
Lecture = CEU Points = Re-certification Points
60 min. = .1 = 1
90 min. = .15 = 1.5
600 min. = 1.0 = 10
From the table above*, not all CEUs turn into recertification points. IAAP on occasion needs to weigh the material in the lecture (i.e., seminar, conference, class, etc.). All of these lectures need to be at least 60 minutes.
Earning a university degree helps in your attaining of re-certification too!

The delegate will vote in the best interest of those he/she is representing, but will be able to make a more informed decision if allowed to consider any additional information.
