January
2010

"E" Award was presented to Becky Davidson.  During our Silent Auction (17th November), Becky Davidson wasn't on the committee but was very diligent to assist Jackie Gault with set up/ finalizing sales, bagging gift items etc.,  in the Home/Bath Category.  I  (Marilyn Simms) spotted an item in Collage which I kept my eye and bid on while still working the event.  I felt certain I'd won this particular item until the Bid Sheet showed Becky outbid me.  As we closed out the meeting I whined and whined about loosing out on the bid.  Becky tried to offer it to me but I refused.

Fast forward - on Christmas Day my daughter who'd assisted at the Auction gave me a present and….upon opening it saw that it was the auction item (Travel Bag)!  Appears on the night of the event, at some point during my whining, Becky gave the item to my daughter.  She did not ask for exchange of monies but simply directed my daughter to give it to me on Christmas.

This year she has been especially valuable to the Chapter as she confirmed “we can do it” when we realized our Chapter was responsible for the Administrative Professional Week Kick-Off Breakfast for the Houston Area Inter-City Council of IAAP. Her leadership skills were so very evident as she led the team who volunteered and worked tirelessly to make it happen. This was the most outstanding Meeting and Speaker in the history of the Houston Inter-City Council, as we had breakfast at the Downtown Aquarium and our speaker was the dynamic Debra Duncan of KHOU TV. Ethel Hamilton CPS/CAP also chaired the Katy Christian Ministries Christmas Donations and gifts purchase. She served on the Hospitality Team and mentored the Team Leaders, as well as mentoring New Members of WHC. Thank you, Ethel, and congratulations WHC IAAP Veteran of the Year 2007-08.

(Directors are Chapter Members who have served at least one year as a Committee Chair or Board position, and who share their experience and knowledge of IAAP and Chapter norms, policy and procedures and general leadership skills and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.)

When the elected person resigned, Carolyn assumed the position of Acting Treasurer until a new Treasurer was elected in February.  In addition, she led the Board and Chapter through delicate processes this past year with all grace and wisdom.  We are very indebted to Carolyn for her service to our Chapter!

2005
